As part of the refresh to my on-going paperback book covers, to try and make them a bit more true to their story and more appealing, I have decided to give away the first part of the trilogy “The Phoney War” as as a free 130,000 word e-book.

Apologies that the book took a little while to go live, there were some formatting issues I found on some readers, even thought the proof looked fine. I will certainly need to be a little more careful in reviewing these in the future!
Of course what I am hoping with this, is that once you have read the first book you will then be eager to go on to buy the full e-book, containing all three parts of the trilogy for $0.99. Also, by maybe splitting off the first novel it will make it easier to digest than going all in on the 370,000 word read.
Unfortunately none of the ePubs for The Summer of Reasoning are available on Amazon any longer, I still have the paperbacks on there with the original darker cover, and my other book, A Level of Consciousness is still on there in both paperback and e-Book, but technical difficulties with ISBN numbers were just annoying enough for me to say stuff it! I may get around to sorting the problem out one day.. maybe after my next book.
The new covers for the paperback books are awesome in my humble opinion. The first one you have already seen, and if you’ve read the full book should be able to visualise the chapters all of these come from. I still need to approve the new proofs from the publisher of course so might still be 3-4 weeks away from a physical copy.
The 5.5 x 8.5 (15.24cm x 22.9cm) Book format with the off-white pages is the most astatically pleasing. The bigger 9×6 format has less pages and a few cents cheaper to print but feel a little off. Also the prints from Amazon seem slightly lower quality, but it is all semantic, at $20+ per book I don’t expect the market to be any, I will buy them just for keepsakes, to go to friends and the local libraries.
Oh, on a final note, I gave a copy of the paperback version of A Level of Consciousness to the Blenheim library, it is one of the ones with the original cover, so if you live in the area, pop in and reserve it for free. I will also donate them the three paperbacks above once I am happy with the quality, a big thank you again to the National Library of NZ for giving me the ISBN numbers, it should take me a few years to use them up.
